Acrylic Plastic vs PETG Sign Holders: What's the Difference?
Transparent Plastic Display Holders: Acrylic Versus PETG
Investing in display holders or sign holders for your ecommerce business necessitates making critical decisions - one of which is the material selection for your display/sign holders.
Most Danoni products are provided in three different materials. We're focusing on clear superior acrylic and clear super durable PETG in this discussion.
Clear Superior Acrylic
Clear superior acrylic is a high-grade material suitable for use in bustling, high-activity environments for sign holders as well as other items.
As compared to other materials, like styrene, clear superior acrylic has multiple advantages. It's less stiff and has more flexibility, allowing it to absorb shock caused by falls without splitting or fracturing. This characteristic makes acrylic an enduring material for sign holders, as it's more likely to flex than fracture upon impact.
If you need signages that can withstand snapping and shattering, clear superior acrylic is an excellent pick. Moreover, it resists scratches owing to its flexibility in contrast to styrene. Unlike more rigid materials that chip under pressure, acrylic is less likely to get scratched unless substantial force is applied.
Lastly, clear superior acrylic has a glossy, refined effect that can make signage more conspicuous than that made with other materials. If you want your retail signages to get noticed while remaining long-lasting, it's a fantastic pick for your items.
Clear Super Durable PETG
Polyethylene terephthalate or clear super durable PETG, is a robust plastic material that offers several unique advantages.
Among all our available materials, PETG is the most enduring and is highly resistant to impact and force. It's lightweight, extremely pliable, and nearly unbreakable without a concerted effort.
PETG's durability is its biggest strength. Compared to acrylic, which can split or even shatter when relatively slight force is applied, PETG can withstand substantial pressure without fracturing and is considered virtually unbreakable under regular conditions. If your display needs to endure falls or accidental contact with shopping carts, PETG is a better choice. It is generally 5-7 times as impact resistant as the same thickness acrylic plastic.
However, PETG is less scratch-resistant than acrylic due to its softer surface. It seldom develops significant scratches, but is less well-suited to corner or aisle displays (which are scratch-prone) than superior acrylic.
Which Material is Superior?
Both superior acrylic and PETG offer noteworthy advantages. Acrylic is considerably more flexible than styrene, denser, and less prone to scratching because of its rigid exterior. It also has a glossy exterior for a professional-looking display.
PETG is more pliable and lighter, with an impact resistance 5-7 times that of acrylic. It is the most difficult signage material to break, making it ideal for point of sale displays where there's a risk of holders being knocked onto the ground.
The best material largely depends on the specific use. If you require a scratch-resistant display for retail aisle use, acrylic works excellently. For a long-lasting checkout counter display, PETG is more likely to be durable.
